Red Russian is the loyal friend to the west coast. This is due to its high tolerance of a mixture of weather, moisture and growing conditions. This fabulous garlic is sure to please your most discerning gardener and chef and is our most consistent performer in the field. This variety was brought to Canada by the Doukhobor immigrants in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

As a Marbled Purple Stripe these garlics and mid-season harvest with medium to long storage (6 - 8 months) when cured properly. These bulbs will likely have 5 - 8 large cloves per bulb.

The taste for Red Russian is hot and spicy when raw but mellows beautifully to rich complex sweet flavour when cooked. Pairs well with roasted vegetables and for flavouring roasted meats. A great all-purpose garlic due to size, ease of peeling and intense flavour.
